Cosc Research Home Page
Cosc’s remit is the coordination of an effective whole-of-government response to domestic, sexual and gender-based violence. Central to the execution of this remit is the planning and implementation of a programme of robust research in the areas of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence in Ireland.
In partnership with all statutory and non-statutory agencies working in these areas, Cosc’s research unit aims to develop a programme of research incorporating both descriptive and explanatory work. An important goal for this programme of work will be the advancement of a solid empirical basis for understanding both the extent and nature of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence in Ireland. Furthermore, well-designed and timely research in these areas will be vital for generating the evidence base needed to ensure effective service delivery for those who have been affected by domestic, sexual and/or gender-based violence and for the prevention of the crimes involved.
