Second progress report on National Strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence 2010-2014.


The second progress report on the National Strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence 2010-2014 has been submitted to the Strategy Oversight Committee.


The Strategy Oversight Committee is chaired by the Secretary General of the Department of Justice and Equality is comprised of representatives from Cosc, the Department of Health and Children, the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, the Department of Education and Skills, An Garda Síochána and the HSE. The role of the Committee is to monitor the implementation of the strategy and to assist in identifying solutions to any delays in implementation.


The Committee meets twice yearly.  In advance of each meeting a progress report on the implementation of the strategy is prepared by Cosc, using material and information supplied by relevant organisations and feedback from NGOs.


The Committee noted that, although there has been in delay in implementing some of the activities, due to resource issues, the majority of the actions are being implemented as planned and the Committee is satisfied that progress is being made in accordance with the strategy time frame.
