The Community Relations and Community Policing, Crime Prevention Section of An Garda Síochána is pleased to announce that the Garda Commissioner has recently published translations on the Garda website www.garda.ie of an Garda Síochána's crime prevention and community safety information sheets (including the sheet on Domestic Abuse)

27/06/2011 The Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence welcomes Cabinet decision to opt into EU Directive on victims of crime
The Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Mr Alan Shatter, T.D. today welcomed the decision by the government to seek approval of both Houses of the Oireachtas to opt in to the draft EU Directive establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime.

Cosc is currently inviting applications for its Awareness Raising Scheme 2011 relating to domestic, sexual and gender-based violence and completed applications are required to be submitted to Cosc by Thursday 21st April 2011. For more information please click here

07/04/2011 The Development of a Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence
The Council of Europe established a committee in December 2008 to prepare one or more legall bindin instrument(s) "to prevent and combat domestic violence including specific forms of violence against women, other forms of violence against women, and to protect and support the victims of such violence as as prosecute the perpetrators".
