Cosc Awareness Raising Grant Scheme 2011 relating to Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence

This year 82 applications were received for the Cosc awareness raising grant scheme and to date offers of grants have been made to 62 successful applicants.  Cosc welcomes the high overall standard of applications and the increase in the number of initiatives that involve collaboration between groups.

The Executive Director of Cosc, Éimear Fisher, had this to say about the scheme "Cosc is happy to support the very important work being done by groups/NGOs to prevent and reduce the effects of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence.  I am particularly pleased to see the significant number of applications with initiatives involving collaboration between national and local groups.  I would encourage all successful applicants to take the Guiding Principles for Public Awareness Raising Activities relating to domestic, sexual and gender-based violence into account when developing their public awareness raising campaigns and information materials." Click Here to download a copy of the guiding principles".

Cosc will be in contact with successful applicants later in the year requesting evaluation reports of the impact that these initiatives have on raising awareness of the nature and extent of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence in Ireland; and of services available to help those who experience these crimes.  It is important that successful applicants put in place effective methods to evaluate the success of the Cosc funded projects as outlined in the Cosc ‘Guidance manual for Grant Applications 2011’ Click Here  to download a copy of the manual.
