  1. New initiative launched to engage men in preventing domestic violence

Announcement of a joint collaborative initiative to encourage Irish men to become actively engaged in preventing violence against women

Cosc welcomes a new joint collaborative initiative The Other Half announced by three national organisations:- SAFE Ireland (representative group for women’s frontline domestic violence services), Rape Crisis Network Ireland (representative group for Rape Crisis Centres), and the Men's Development Network, who have joined forces to engage Irish men to become part of the solution to preventing violence against women. The consortium believes that the work to prevent violence against women can only be fully tackled by harnessing the energy, support and understanding of Irish men. Campaign plans for the The Other Half will be launched formally later in the Autumn. Cosc has contributed funding under the 2010 awareness raising grant scheme towards this initiative.
