  1. Research at Cosc

Building on the success of Cosc’s study of "Attitudes to Domestic Abuse in Ireland" ongoing research projects at Cosc include: The Mapping of Services for those Affected by Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence; A Nationwide Survey of the Awareness-Raising and Prevention Programmes Relating to Domestic, Sexual and/or Gender-based Violence in Post-primary Schools in Ireland; An Examination of Existing Systems of Data Collection Pertaining to Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence in Ireland. In addition, a literature review on the operation of the court system in domestic abuse cases is almost completed. As envisaged, the outputs from each of the above will feed directly into the development of the National Strategy this year. Cosc would like to thank the many State and non-State service providers who have participated in this programme of work as it is central to the generation of a solid evidence base necessary to promote effective service delivery for those who have been affected by domestic, sexual or gender-based violence and to prevent such crimes in the future.
